The Anatomy of a Beach Bag
It has really been far too long since I've posted anything. Really. However, the overwhelming urge to be lazy and lay out by the pool keeps winning the battle but oh well. I'll do better. Anyway, today's post is about everything your beach bag should consist of. Whenever I go to the beach, pool, or any other body of water, I can't seem to just survive on a bikini and a towel. I probably bring too much, but it's better to be safe than sorry!
The first thing you need is the perfect beach bag. I love this straw one for summer; it's effortlessly chic. I also love this bold Free People one and this whimsical Marc Jacobs tote. I like my beach bags roomy but not to large. The next most important item, sunscreen, is a must. Being a redhead, sunscreen is my best friend. Of course, you'll need an adorable beach towel. Bonus points if your towel and beach bag coordinate. The next two items are both very important for your skin and to complete your look, sunglasses and a floppy hat. I adore floppy hats. So, going to the pool gives me an excuse to wear one! I'm really into round sunglasses right now; so, I love the pair shown above. I swear by bringing an oversized denim button along in my bag. As you probably already know, I love my denim button down. It's so easy to throw on for a walk along the beach, a bit of coverage from the sun, or if you're going to get something to eat. I also like to bring ear buds and a book. I can alternate between listening to music, reading, and laying out. And finally, I bring a little makeup bag with a few summer essentials.
I like to bring just a few fabulous products with me. First of all, lip balm with SPF is a must. It protects your lips, moisturizes, and gives them a little color. The next product I bring is cheek tint. This is nice to have if you're going to go out after your pool/beach outing. Just a dab of this and you'll look pretty and polished! Of course, next is waterproof mascara. Waterproof so it stays on throughout your activities; this is also nice if you're going out afterwards. I also always bring ponytail holders. They're a definite lifesaver! And lastly, a bottle of bright nail polish! If you're going to the beach, the sand is the perfect exfoliator. So, paint those toes while they're perfectly soft!
I'd like to point out that I do not always bring ALL of this with me! However, when I'm going to the beach for the whole day, there's no telling what I'll need. I love the beach, laying out, swimming, playing in the sand, the sun, swimsuits, beachy waves, freckles, and summer in general.
Hope you're having a glamorous summer. xoxo
