Concert Style

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are having a fabulous Thanksgiving break. In the past, I've used being busy as my excuse for not blogging routinely. However, I don't think I actually knew what busy was then. This year has been so fast-paced and hectic. Between school, dance team, ballet, the Nutcracker, and various organizations I'm apart of, I just haven't had time! I'm so thankful for this break to relax, get ready for Christmas, and catch up on some blogging!
Recently my friend, Riley, and I went to a Justin Timberlake concert. It was phenomenal and so much fun. We ate a fun, stylish restaurant and then sat in a suite during the concert. The whole experience was very Gossip Girl. Deciding what to wear to a concert can be kind of tricky. Is it dressy or casual? Glam or hipster? Am I going to be freezing to death or burning up? For this concert the vibe was a bit dressy, a little glam, and of course very classy- just like JT himself.

First of all, let's talk fur. Fur is always the most important part of each outfit. I wore an animal print fur jacket paired with a black skater skirt. Underneath the jacket, I wore Audrey Hepburn graphic tee to add a touch of glam. Lacy tights and knee high riding boots completed the outfit while big curls and red lips finished off the look! The outfit definitely had a fun, glamorous edge to it!

JT CONCERT

I totally love this ensemble for a JT concert. It's still got the fur jacket and skater skirt but with a dressier touch. Something about Justin Timberlake and his music inspires me to dress to the nines for every occasion!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Thanks for reading.

Back to School: Trend Time: Camouflage

A trend I've been seeing pop up everyone for fall is camouflage. I was a little iffy about it at first, Hello camo?? However, it's totally grown on me, and I love it. I mean who doesn't want to camouflage themselves at school from time to time! This particular trend will be so perfect for fall outfits, especially for school. Casual and trendy, it'll transition really well from school, football games, and hanging out with friends.
There is never anyone that actually has one sort of style: boho, glam, preppy, punk, etc. However, I find it's helpful to try and find a certain theme or general idea for each outfit I wear. So, I'm going to be showing you how to try out this fantastically fashionable fall trend three different ways!

camo-casual

If you love looking so effortless and chic in a casual blase way, this look is for you. If you own at least one military jacket and possibly a pair of overalls this is also for you. If you own more "stylish sneakers" than necessary, this laid-back, baseball-inspired outfit screams your name! Take jeans and a tee to the next level by pairing boyfriend jeans, a loose tee, ankle boots, and a casual statement necklace together for an easy look. Top it off with an adorable camouflage baseball cap, and you've got a fashion forward look perfect for fall.

camo-edgy

Do you have more studded items in your closet than you can count? Do you just die for skulls, leather, and rips? Can you not leave Urban Outfitters without buying ten graphic tees? This look is just right for you! It has your basics: a button down, skinny pants, sneakers, and a scarf. However, the details really make this outfit. The denim button balances out the grey leather pants perfectly. Throw on majorly studded sneakers, and an IKAT camouflage scarf, and you just can't beat it. It's edgy while still being totally casual and easy for school.

camo-boho

If you're into layers, riding boots, wearing shorts year around, and you own a fringe cross-body bag or two, you'll love this look. Channeling Bridget in her archeologist period via Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, this look is absolutely fabulous for fall. I love wearing shorts and boots, and mixed with an oversize oatmeal sweater for warmth, they're perfect. The structure of the camouflage jacket balances out the relaxed, flowy-ness of the rest of the look. Round daisy sunnies and little turtle earrings give the look some character. I would totally wear this in a heartbeat.

So, as you can see, camouflage really isn't all that bad. Take it in small doses to begin with, and I'm sure you'll end up absolutely loving it. I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

(I definitely just referenced Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. It's okay to judge me.)

Back to School: Mixing and Matching

Hey guys! School started back today which was A) rather depressing because homework/busy schedules/hectic and B) wonderful because that means fall is coming! And you know what comes after fall... (CHRISTMAS). By the way, there are only 127 days until that magical day! If you haven't already started listening to Jingle Bells, Sleigh Ride, and Santa Baby, you're not living right. Anyway, I don't know about y'all but the in-between summer and fall weather always befuddles me when it comes time to get dressed. It's waaaay to hot outside for boots and sweaters, but inside my school it is below freezing. This has led me towards dressing in layers and combining summery colors with fall jackets and sweaters. I guess I call this my "pre-fall look." Just get yourself a pair of ankle boots, lots of graphic tees, maybe a military jacket or two, and a cardi and you're all set for "pre-fall." Don't get caught up in which season a certain article of clothing is meant for.

mix and match

Mix summer pieces such as a flower crown, graphic tee, and high waisted denim shorts with boyfriend jeans, military jackets, and ankle booties. Perfectly casual-cool.

Parsons Summer Intensive Continued!

I am so terrible at remembering to take pictures. I always forget to snap pics of the magical things happening right in front of me because I'm so focused on enjoying them. And don't get me started on taking pictures with people; I just always forget. However, I did take a few pictures on this adventure that I thought would be fun to share!

 @ the MoMA.
Not only was everything so beautiful, Karlie Kloss (my favorite model) was there
about 2 days after me so in other words: I die.

Our fashion project was to create a garment that camouflaged into Chinatown. The Lucky Cat head turned out looking adorable.

I swear the only thing I ate this summer was cookies, that's it.

Actually, don't hate my croquis anymore! I'm so happy that my fashion figure drawings improved.

Love, love, loved seeing adorable flower shops every couple of blocks. My city... okay, town needs to invest in these!

Best desserts ever @ Eataly. I die.

Cutest dog retreat ever down the street from my school.

Emergency Room at 3 AM. Not sure what is more tragic- that outfit I'm sporting or the fact that I cut my thumb while shaving my legs?

Fellow giant, Gianna, came to visit!

Most magical gelato ever at the most magical place ever. Obviously, I spent a good deal of the time eating..

Jackson Pollock @ the MoMA

Laduree macaroons, yes please.

Andy Warhol and the famous Marilyn

Mood! Most expensive fabric store ever, but so oh-so-wonderful and full of everything you could dream of!

Me standing where Tim Gunn probably has stood.

Found this wall in Chinatown and thought it was super cool.

John Baldessari

Missed my friend Riley so much! Absolutely loved getting to see her!

Loved meeting so many inspiring people. Also, I AM A GIANT.

Touring Seventeen was fabulous. The beauty closet was to die for.

Sitting on the Met steps Blair Waldorf Style

For this, we sketched a model wearing different types of clothes and added watercolor. I loved this.

I might have stopped at Whole Foods for treats 1 or 2 times a day...

I had a fabulous time in New York. The city is so wonderful, I learned so much, and met the most adorable people. I'm so blessed to have had such a wonderful experience.

Check back for more post very soon!
